My Tangle Passion
My name is Margaretha Tuft. I’m from Norway, but I live in Agios Nikolaos on the island Crete in Greece with my partner Georgios, Dolly (our dog) and Kavousi (our cat). I have two grown up children, a son in Norway and a daughter in England. My journey to get where I am today has been long, but when I look back at it, everything makes perfect sense.
I have always made some kind of art. I am curious and I like to try out everything that looks fun. Sometimes it has been successful and sometimes not, but I have always had a need to create.
In 2015 I discovered the Zentangle Method®. ( www.zentangle.com )
“The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, simple curves, S-curves and orbs. These simple shapes are the "Elemental Strokes" in all Zentangle art. These patterns are drawn on small pieces of paper called "tiles." We call them tiles because you can assemble them into mosaics.
Zentangle art is non-representational and unplanned so you can focus on each stroke and not worry about the result. There is no up or down to Zentangle art. If fact, you can most easily create Zentangle art by rotating your tile as you tangle -- always keeping your hand in a relaxed position. You don't need to know what a tangle is going to look like to draw it. You just need to know the steps. The result is a delightful surprise.
As you use the Zentangle Method to create beautiful images, you likely will enjoy increased focus, creativity, self-confidence and an increased sense well-being.”
For me that was like coming home. For the first time I saw all the possibilities, not the limitations. The fear of failure disappeared and creativity was just flowing from inside me. This was fun and very addictive. I had to draw every time I had the chance. It relaxed me, kept me focused and mindful and helped me through a difficult period in my life.
In November 2019 I went to Frankfurt in Germany for A CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) training seminar. It was a dream come through. The Zentangle Method has given me joy, fulfillment and peace of mind, and I am happy to say that I have found my passion.
Some of my Art
My art makes me happy and I want to share my creative joy with everyone. I hope I can be an inspiration to pick up a pen and paper and start tangling.
